Doug Martin – Chair

Doug Martin has served on the Deseret First Credit Union Board of Directors for four years. He served as Vice Chair for the last two years, and he has also served on the ALM, Compensation and Strategic Planning committees during his tenure. He serves as the Director of Treasury Services for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In this position, he is the treasurer of the global organization and is responsible for the overall working capital operations of the Church.

Randy Ploeger – Vice Chair

Randy Ploeger has served Deseret First Credit Union for 24 years; 9 years as a member of the Supervisory Committee and 15 years as a member of the Board of Directors sitting on various committees throughout his tenure. Randy is employed by the Church and is currently working in the Human Resource department. Prior to Church employment, he worked for several years at a local savings and loan and credit union. He earned a B.S. in Accounting and Business Management from BYU and an MBA from the University of Utah.

Susan Rather – Secretary

Susan Clayton Rather was first elected to the Deseret First Credit Union Board of Directors in 2007. She has served as Vice Chair and Secretary, and on several committees. She was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the newly-established Deseret First Charitable Foundation. Susan is group leader of the Utah chapter of the Global Women’s Leadership Network, a program of the World Council of Credit Unions. She retired from Church employment in 2015 and began serving as Refugee Program Specialist with LDS Charities. Her academic background includes having earned a doctoral degree in education.

Allan Gunnerson

Allan Gunnerson has served on the Deseret First Board of Directors since 2001. He has chaired the board and has worked on various committees. Allan is retired from the Church Educational System where he served in various teaching and administrative positions, most recently as director of the institutes of religion at the University of Utah and LDS Business College. He is currently involved in other professional endeavors. His education includes a doctorate degree in college and university administration.

Brad Jacox

Brad Jacox has served on the Deseret First Credit Union Board of Directors for four years. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Loan Policy committee and as a member of the Asset/Liability Management and Compensation committees. He is the Director of the Global Service Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a department that provides financial services and customer support to members, leaders, and employees worldwide. He has worked for the Church for over 30 years in various assignments such as Director for Temporal Affairs and Area Controller.

Jim Tidwell

Jim Tidwell has served on the Deseret First Credit Union Board of Directors for 8 years, including 3 years as Chair. He has also served on the ALM, Loan Policy, Strategic Planning, and Enterprise Risk Management committees during his tenure. Jim serves as the Director of the CES Initiative in the Office of the Commissioner of the Church Educational System. In this assignment he directs CES efforts “to provide opportunities for education to Church members wherever the Church is organized.” Prior to this assignment he served as the CES Director of Finance and Budget for 18 years, a Director in the Church Budget Office for 10 years, and Financial Controller of the Central America Area for 4 years. Prior to employment with the LDS Church, he worked 8 years as an auditor, small business advisor, and manager for Deloitte. He graduated with a B.A. in accounting from the University of Utah and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Paul Rytting

Paul Rytting completed his undergraduate studies in Political Science at BYU, and went on to receive a law degree at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU and served as a clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington D.C. After several years in private law practice, Paul was hired by the Church and since 2002 has been Director of the Risk Management Division. He has served as a board member for several non-profit/charitable organizations, and is a member of the Washington and Utah Bar Associations.
